Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum

The Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum is part of the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts; it is completely free and open to the public. The museum was designed by famed architect and WashU Architecture professor Fumihiko Maki. Within the museum there's a small library called the Kranzberg Art & Architecture Library, a beautiful space where students can study.

Fun Fact: This was the first art museum located west of the Mississippi River!

Following the renovation of the Kemper Art Museum, the Florence Steinberg Weil Sculpture Garden was expanded into Tisch Park, the central green space on the East End of campus. The Art on Campus program at WashU contains an ever-growing collection of artwork from around the world. From the Tom Friedman's "Swamp Creature Friends" on the South 40 to Barry Flanagan's "Thinker on a Rock", you'll always find new or familiar pieces of art all around campus!
