Albert M. Greenfield Intercultural Center (GIC)
Albert M. Greenfield Intercultural Center (GIC) builds community, creates a sense of belonging, and fosters intercultural awareness and understanding. The Center offers experiential courses, innovative programs and individual coaching and advising for students. Notably, GIC is home to Natives at Penn: Penn's Native student organization dedicated to increasing awareness of Native & Indigenous culture, history, and contemporary issues, while enhancing the visibility of Native & Indigenous students on campus (which is on Lenape Land). Students attend interschool events such as the All-Ivy Native Conference, attend events hosted by local tribes, and host Penn's Annual Powwow.

💕 Building Community at GIC Looks Like…
Exploring Social Justice
Alliance for Understanding (AU) is a program that provides students with the opportunity to explore the history of the Civil Rights Movement, Black and Jewish History in Civil Rights, as well as contemporary issues related to movement work. The program consists of 5 lectures, a Sunday retreat, and culminates in a week-long Spring Break trip to the US South.
“The AU trip was amazing. It is one thing to read about these historic places, but actually being there and talking to history makers is extremely impactful...many of these ordinary people were unaware of their extraordinary resolve and actions. Their stories were so inspiring and made me want to somehow enact change in the world.” Brianna Westbrooks, C’16
Getting Support
GIC is committed to developing your sense of self-advocacy, self-awareness, and self-love. They’ll challenge you and others to reflect on our shared humanity, create a space where you feel nurtured and you can nurture others, and empower you to build intercultural leadership skills for an interconnected and global world.
Sharing Meals
GIC’s has bi-weekly drop in spaces like Pancake Mondays—handmade by the GIC Staff and FruiTea—where you can make your own bubble tea. Being able to share meals togther is a vital part of GIC’s mission.
