Memorial Church ("Mem Chu") & Spiritual Life

Completed in 1903 and dedicated by Jane Stanford as a memorial to her late husband Leland Stanford, Sr., the spectacular Memorial Church is considered the University’s architectural crown jewel. As decreed in the University’s Founding Grant, Stanford is non-sectarian, and as one part of the university’s broader Office of Religious & Spiritual Life, Memorial Church is both non-denominational and interfaith in practice.
