Kogan Plaza is the heart and geographic center of GW's campus. Students, faculty, and staff enjoy it as a popular outdoor space for student organization activities, university-sponsored events, and a variety of student life gatherings.
On a regular day, students advertise their clubs or study in the seating options around the plaza. Surrounding Kogan Plaza are many staples such as Madison Hall, Gelman Library, Lisner Auditorium, and District House. Lisner is the second biggest auditorium in the city, second only to the Kennedy Center!

📓 Academic Commons
Coordinated by GW Libraries and Academic Innovation (LAI), Academic Commons is a “one-stop shop” for academic resources and services across the university. GW offers a wide range of academic support, offered by a variety of departments and divisions. Supporting the academic experience, LAI connects students to the resources and service they need to succeed.
🎙 Events
Along with the intercollegiate sport events that occur, the Smith Center has also hosted many major events and concerts throughout the years. In the past, popular artists such as Bob Dylan, Maroon 5, and blackbear have performed at Smith Center as well as comedians David Spade, Whoopi Goldberg, Jerry Seinfeld, Jimmy Fallon, Hasan Minaj, Michael Che and the late George Carlin and Robin Williams. Sports fans have also enjoyed attending indoor tennis tournaments, USA Women's Basketball games, as well as many camps facilitated by GW coaches and staff.
🌏 Communities and Cultural Events
The Multicultural Student Services Center (MSSC) focuses its work on underrepresented undergraduate students who are racial-, ethnic- and identity-based minority students. The work overlaps with graduate students, international students and other students who develop an interest in learning around diversity and inclusion.
The MSSC staff is the lead contributor for diversity and inclusion in campus life, campus climate and student advocacy. Our programs are developed in conjunction with campus partners during orientation, welcome week, the academic year, National Heritage celebration, commencement programs and the transition to alumni status. Cultural Education and Cultural Heritage Celebrations provide exceptional opportunities for students to develop stronger cultural intelligence and intercultural competency.

⭐ Kogan Plaza
Situated beside Gelman Library and behind Lisner Auditorium, the benches next to the tree-lined walkways are sought-after spots to catch up with a friend or relax between classes. During the warmer months, some professors turn Kogan Plaza into an outdoor classroom for their students.
