Surrounded by academic buildings on three sides and lined with benches and trees, University Yard (U-Yard) is GW's largest green space on our Foggy Bottom campus.
It is the site of major university events throughout the year, such as the annual Spring Fling concert and MSSC Block Party. On most Fridays at the beginning of the Fall semester there are student organization fairs as well. It’s a favorite outdoor spot for students to study, relax, meet up with friends, and even throw a frisbee around.
A bronze replica of Jean-Antoine Houdon's sculpture of George Washington, which is considered to be the most accurate rendering of the first president, prominently sits at the north end of the Yard.
