Multicultural Affairs

Student Involvement

⭐ Multicultural Affairs

At North Central College, we celebrate our differences. We know that an important part of being a member of the North Central College Community is embracing the diversity of our campus community. We promote a perspective that recognizes, understands, respects, appreciates, and celebrates the various cultures that exist in all individuals.

The Cardinal Safe Zone

This program promotes a safe and supportive campus environment for students, faculty and staff who identify as lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender/queer/intersex/asexual (LGBTQIA) and seeks to create a network of trained allies.

MLK Week

Each year North Central hosts an MLK week with workshops, lectures, and exhibits to honor Dr. Kings Legacy.

Frankly Speaking

This program invites you to interact with fellow students from different backgrounds. You’ll be surprised how easy it is to meet new friends and learn more about yourself and other cultures.

Hispanic Heritage Celebration

A month-long celebration of Hispanic and Latino history and culture, including art exhibits and performances.

Premier Scholars

The Premier Scholars Program, also known as “Premier”, serves a diverse group of incoming first-year students. As a Premier Scholar, you’ll get to create incredible memories and build lasting friendships. Through the program you will engage with the campus through a sample psychology class, campus partner workshops, and have an assigned Premier Team Leader mentor, who will support you throughout your first-year at North Central!

Four Reasons to Join Premier
1) Become familiar with campus, the Naperville community and campus resources
2) Build a social network by attending events with other Premier Scholars
3) Transition smoothly to college life with our targeted workshops and dedicated support system
4) Individual mentoring sessions with Premier Team Leaders to discuss helpful college tips

Intercultural Organizations

We invite and encourage students to expand your cultural boundaries by joining one of our many intercultural student groups, including:
Asian Student Konnection (ASK) promotes Asian cultural awareness through activities.
Black Student Association (BSA) encourages a positive image of all students and supports its members in achieving their educational goals.
Chinese Club promotes Chinese language and culture.
Fusión Española helps students continue learning the Spanish language through cultural events, volunteer work and unity in the community.
German Club promotes the language and culture of all German-speaking countries through weekly conversation hours, cultural events and excursions.
International Club fosters cross-cultural understanding among American and international students.
Japan Club promotes cultural awareness through events and activities.
Latinx Student Association creates unity among Hispanics and other cultures.
Mosaic encourages awareness and appreciation to multiculturalism, diversity and social justice.
Muslim Student Association (MSA) is an organization dedicated to engaging Muslim students at North Central College to be active members of the community and the culture of the college. MSA aims to introduce the Islamic culture and the culture of countries in which Islam is practiced to the NCC community.
OUTreach works to promote understanding about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues.
Tous Ensemble: Le Cercle Francais provides students with opportunities to use French in real-life situations.

Anti-Hate Week

North Central hosts a week-long campaign to promote an inclusive environment across campus and raise awareness of discrimination and oppression in all its forms.

⭐ Student Involvement

Among the most important lessons you’ll learn at North Central are those that take place outside the classroom. Learn leadership skills as you join others in one of more than 75 student organizations.
