Manufacturing & Technology
This field of study prepares technically oriented individuals for careers in industrial maintenance, automation, robots, biomedical equipment technology, industrial and commercial electronics, computer aided drafting/design, welding, and production technology.
Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) certification programs
The MSSC is an industry-led, training, assessment and certification system focused on the core skills and knowledge needed by production and material handling workers. You can enroll in the Certified Logistics Technician Program or the Certified Production Technician Program.
Medical Laboratory Technology
Medical Laboratory Technicians perform a variety of chemical and biological analyses on blood & other specimens to assist physicians in the diagnosis & treatment of disease. The MLT graduate can choose from a variety of employment opportunities, including hospital laboratories, physician offices & clinics, public health facilities, and research institutions.
Jefferson State’s MLT Program prepares students for entry into the field of laboratory medicine in 6 semesters at a reasonable tuition cost. The MLT Program consists of basic academic courses, MLT courses taught in campus labs, and clinical experiences in one of several hospitals and reference laboratories.

Nursing Education
The mission of the Registered Nursing program is to prepare students to enter the nursing work force with an entry level nursing degree. We offer the associate in applied science degree and prepare students to take the national licensure examination for registered nurses (NCLEX). All four campuses offer full-time nursing courses.
Veterinary Technology
The Veterinary Technology Program is a distance education program. You must have access to a computer, the internet, and be available to work or volunteer for a minimum of 20 hours per week in a veterinary facility that is located within the state of Alabama.
Theory classes are conducted through the internet, and most required clinical skills will be performed at the veterinary clinic where you work. To become a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) within the state of Alabama, one must graduate from an AVMA accredited program in Veterinary Technology and pass both the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) and the Alabama State Boards.

Biomedical Equipment Technology
Biomedical Equipment Technicians (BETs) have an understanding of sophisticated medical devices and knowledge in computer networking and cyber security. They work in hospitals, clinics, and research facilities to service and maintain medical equipment for doctors and nurses so they can care for their patients.
Business Management
The Business Management program offers an associate in applied science degree or certificates in Banking and Finance or Business Management.
Child Development
Jefferson State is the first Child Development Associate Degree Accredited program in the state under The National Association of the Education of Young Children (naeyc.org). JSCC CDP also leads in offering unique programs of study for concentrations in Educarer, Administrator, and Afterschool. JSCC CDP continues to be on the cutting edge providing an online program with live classrooms offered in present time and recorded to accommodate every student.
Computer Information Systems Technology
The CIS program offers an associate in science, an associate in applied science, and certificates. This curriculum is designed to serve students planning to enter the field of computer information technology and those already employed who need specialized skills required by the computing industry.
Construction & Building Science Technology
These program offers certificates and associate degrees in Construction Management and Architectural/Civil design. Courses include project control and development, site planning, design, construction methods, construction materials, cost estimating, scheduling, contract administration, safety, building codes and standards, and information technology. The Construction Management Technology option is accredited by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE).
Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement
The program emphasizes the development of analytical skills that are vital in the field of justice, and an understanding of the laws and legally defined procedures that enables students to complete Associate Degrees in Criminal Justice and/or associate in applied science Degrees and Certificates in Law Enforcement.
Culinary & Hospitality
The Hospitality/Culinary Management Department prepares students for a variety of positions in health care institutions, schools, restaurants, commercial types of food services, hotel and other lodging operations. Emergency Medical Services
Jefferson State offers three levels of EMS training and education. Emergency Medical Technicians, Advanced EMT’s, and Paramedics are licensed medical professionals who provide emergency medical care to the sick and injured in an effort to promote health, alleviate suffering and conserve human life. Students who enroll in the EMS program will pursue a course of study, which leads to an associate in applied science degree. Upon successful completion of the Paramedic program, the graduate may take the National Registry exam and apply for licensure as a Paramedic.
Funeral Service Education
The Funeral Service Education associate degree program at Jefferson State is accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE). Student are given a broad understanding of funeral home operation, funeral directing, public health and embalming along with a foundation in communication skills, social science and applied science. The graduates can complete the National Board Examination given by the International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards or the state board examinations given by the Alabama Board of Funeral Service.
