Living in CIW
Look at all the trees surrounding you! That’s one reason nature lovers choose College-in-the-Woods (CIW, for short). It’s also the reason the Environmental Action and Studies Learning Community housed here fits in perfectly! If you’re an incoming first-year student who is passionate about the environment, you may have just found your new home at Binghamton.
The five buildings in CIW are right in the middle of campus with easy access to The Union, Engineering building and buses. The community has both suite-style and corridor-style rooms, a co-rec football field, basketball and volleyball courts and its own library.
There are plenty of traditions, but Casino-in-the-Woods is one of the oldest here in CIW. Every year, students turn the dining hall into a fully functioning, state-licensed casino and all the winnings go to a different non-profit organization or charity.
