Health Sciences Center
The Health Science Center is the primary teaching and research hub for the schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Public Health. All five schools share the common goal of educating the next generation of healthcare providers, biomedical researchers and health policy leaders for West Virginia. WVU offers a unique Rural Rotation Program that allows students in the WVU Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy to spend months learning and practicing their new skills in rural communities all over West Virginia.

From the classroom to the clinic, WVU dental and dental hygiene students work in small groups and get extensive hands-on experience in patient care. Graduates can go directly into practice or begin exciting careers in oral health research.

With public health workforce needs on the rise, the West Virginia University School of Public Health is expanding opportunities for its students to gain practice-based experience. Our faculty and students study a wide range of topics affecting population health. Specialty areas include diabetes self-management, occupational injuries, racial disparities, health effects of air pollution, mindfulness, childhood obesity, tobacco disparities, self-injury mortality, substance abuse and more.
