Application Support

UChicago welcomes students from all backgrounds, and each application at UChicago goes through the same holistic review process. There’s no one piece of information—academic and extracurricular records, essays, letters of recommendation, or SAT/ACT scores—that alone determines whether or not you would be a good fit for the College. Instead, we want you to, through your application, show us who you are in your own voice. What is your story? Why did you choose to pursue certain opportunities? What activities are most meaningful to you? The very best way to approach your UChicago application is to simply be yourself and write in your own voice. We care about you and who you really are, not what you think we want to see in an application.

Financial Aid

With over $160 million in financial support distributed this year, UChicago is committed to ensuring that its students graduate debt-free and prepared for lifelong success, no matter their chosen major or background prior to enrolling in The College. UChicago is a need-blind institution, which means we make admissions decisions independent of a family’s financial circumstances. Additionally, through "UChicago Stand Together," “No Barriers,” and “UChicago Empower”—our comprehensive plans for increasing access to college, supporting students in receiving an empowering education, enhancing college and CBO counselor virtual advising, and preparing students for lifelong success—UChicago offers need-based financial aid that meets 100% of your family’s demonstrated need in the form of grants (which do not need to be repaid) instead of student loans. UChicago guarantees free tuition for families with incomes under $125,000 per year (with typical assets), while families earning less than $60,000 (with typical assets) will have tuition, fees, and room and board covered by financial aid. Students who are the first in their families to attend college will receive a $20,000 scholarship over four years and a guaranteed paid internship for their first summer.
