⭐ Academics at Hamilton

Burke Library

Burke Library is a vibrant learning hub, providing information and technology resources that include 3D printing, virtual reality equipment, and print and electronic materials - all of which prepare students to create and share ideas using emerging technologies. Our collection contains more than 600,000 books, journals, and DVDs. The library also offers a 24-hour study room, onsite computer repairs, and during final exams, the library even provides snacks!

Our Digital Hamilton initiative, with a hub on the library’s first floor, seeks to instill in our students the skills necessary to communicate and work effectively in a digital world. It blends hands-on learning with advanced technology and incredible support for student research projects that span campus disciplines.

Centers and Resources

Hamilton offers a rigorous academic program supported by dozens of curricular and cocurricular resources and a robust advising system to help ensure students’ success on campus and when they leave College Hill. Academic support centers include the Writing Center, the Oral Communication Center, and the Quantitative and Symbolic Reasoning Center.

ALEX (Advise, Learn, Experience), Hamilton’s coordinated advising network is tailored for each student’s academic success, career preparation, experiential learning, and personal growth.

Study What You Love

At Hamilton, our open curriculum gives students the freedom to choose courses because they are interested in the subject, not to simply fulfill a requirement.

Some students know exactly what they want to study and can’t wait to get started; Hamilton’s open curriculum provides that flexibility. Others explore different options before choosing their major; our open curriculum works for them, too. Explore Hamilton’s 44 majors - we call them concentrations - and 57 total areas of study, including programs in Africana Studies, Asian Studies, Chinese, East Asian Languages and Literatures, Hispanic Studies, Latin American Studies, and Women’s and Gender Studies.
