Moving to the Big Apple

New York City will be an integral part of your experience as a Columbia student, but it can be a big adjustment for many. From our extensive New Student Orientation Program and Residential Adviser programming in first-year residence halls, to the Live Well | Learn Well initiative, support will be available at every turn.

With students from all 50 states and over 80 countries, you will not be navigating this new city alone. The subway station right outside our gates allows students to get off campus with friends and explore what New York has to offer.

Navigating Columbia & NYC on a student budget may seem intimidating, but luckily there are many ways to have a good time without breaking the bank. Our Ticketing Information Center (or “the TIC”) gives out discounted tickets to movies, play, operas, dance performances, and more. Also, through the Arts Initiative at Columbia, you can access over 30 museums for free with your Columbia ID.

🎓 After Columbia

Our Center for Career Education (CCE) can help you develop and pursue your professional goals. From On-Campus Recruiting and the Industry Showcase Series to mentorship, internship and externship programs, Columbia students are encouraged to explore the many career resources available.

An extensive staff of career counselors work one-on-one with students to help them articulate their skills and connect with the right employers. Columbia’s dedicated job posting portal contains more than 70,000 listings annually, and over 95% of Columbia students will graduate having completed at least one internship or research position.
