Residential Quad

CWRU students enjoy growing levels of independence in their residential communities. First-year students typically share a room with a roommate or in quad-style living. In the second year, students graduate to suite-style arrangements with a private bedroom and shared living space. Upperclass housing includes apartment-style living with single bedrooms, fireplaces and fully equipped kitchens, which helps our students transition to independent living upon graduation.

Gender Inclusive Housing is an opt-in, intentional living option for gender non-conforming, transgender or non-binary students or questioning students that creates an inclusive and supportive living environment. Students in Gender Inclusive Housing rooms can live with other students regardless of their gender identity or expression.

At CWRU, students live in 30+ residence halls and 18 Greek houses. By living on campus, our students become part of a residential community where they develop long-lasting friendships and have many opportunities to get involved in student life.

Our residential halls provide comfortable, affordable and secure on-campus housing options that make your living experience supportive of your academic endeavors.

Student workers at the University Farm supply tons—8 tons on average—of health, fresh, chemical-free vegetables to our campus dining halls each year. In addition to providing food for our campus and local nonprofit organizations, our Squire Valleevue and Valley Ridge Farms enhance and complement the university's mission of education, research and community service through its unique natural settings, history and cultural features.

CWRU encourages our students to expand the variety of their meal plans by using money loaded to their meal cards at a wide array of participating local restaurants, such as the Jolly Scholar, located in our Thwing Center, and nearby off-campus vendors. Favorites in our neighborhood include Bibibop for Asian fusion bowls; Tacologist for some of the city’s best tacos and burritos; and tried-and-true chains including Chipotle, Subway and Dunkin' Donuts. Don’t forget to top off your meal with our favorite Cleveland ice cream, Mitchells!
