Opened in 2021, the Downtown Phoenix campus’ newest residence hall, Fusion on First, provides housing for approximately 530 students across all majors at the downtown campus.
Located on First Avenue and Fillmore Street, the residence hall houses juniors, seniors and graduate students with majors at the Downtown Phoenix campus. Standing 16 floors high and overlooking Civic Space Park, the building includes 13 floors of student housing, above a three-story high-tech innovation hub for the arts geared towards academic programs such as design, popular music, and fashion.
Rooms are apartment-style with two and four-bedroom units available, along with smaller studio options, and are fully furnished with full-size beds, a kitchen, and scenic views of downtown Phoenix.

Living on campus is expected for first-year students and recommended for upper division students, and not only because living on campus enhances your experience. You are also more likely to excel in the classroom, get more involved in campus activities, have more interaction with faculty, and feel more connected to the campus community.

Fusion on First serves as home to upper division students, as well as home of students in the Thunderbird School of Global Management.
Fusion on First is an apartment community that is embedded in a setting that connects students organically with the regional business community and with key resources supporting creative ventures among students, faculty, alumni and local artists, businesses and government agencies. The 16-story-tall, 283,000-square-foot tech-driven building sets the stage to cultivate and amplify new research and entrepreneurship as its unique design expands community living space for up to 550 students. Students can choose from 2 bed-2 bath, 4 bed-2 bath, and studio apartments.

Gender inclusive housing
Gender inclusive housing accommodations are offered in each residential college community at no additional cost.
Students requesting Gender Inclusive Housing must email University Housing. Requests can be submitted at any time of the year. Gender inclusive housing requests will be accommodated based on space availability; preferences are not guaranteed and availability is limited.

Built on a dynamic combination of disciplines unlike any other design and arts school in the nation, the ASU Herberger Institute connects, fuses and merges fields. Choose from architecture, art, dance, design, digital culture, film, theatre, music and more, or create your own unique plan of study with our cross-institute degrees, minors and certificates.
Innovation Hub
The first three floors house Herberger Institute programs, including the popular music program in the School of Music, Dance and Theatre and fashion program in the School of Art, with the remaining 13 floors dedicated for student residential living. The high-tech innovation hub features a suite of industry-standard studio spaces and recording studios, digital media labs, performances spaces and an interdisciplinary maker’s space with laser cutters, 3D printers, felting and industrial knitting machines, and more.

The Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute hosts a 3,900 square foot space on the ground floor of Fusion on First for co-working, pop-up retail, events and exhibitions. This space is a fully activated element of the larger sixteen story, 283,000 square foot building housing Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts programs in fashion and popular music.
Named for its location on First Avenue and its fusion of performing and visual arts, fashion, industrial design and entrepreneurship, Fusion on First offers a way to engage students interested in those programs and provides connections to creative entrepreneurship opportunities.
Amenities include: A collaborative workspace providing ASU students, staff, faculty and ventures with 1,819 square feet of workspace to turn ideas into a reality. An event space with 1,795 square feet (3,598 square feet when combined with the loby) offering a meeting space with furniture, fixtures, and audio-visual equipment.
