The Mountainlair Green is a central outdoor space in our Downtown Area of campus. You can find students playing pick-up sports games on the turf, studying, or even lounging between classes.

Since our founding in 1867, West Virginia University has grounded itself as an institution that cares deeply about the preservation of tradition. The heart of WVU truly lies in the people themselves, both within our campus and the communities in which we reside. Welcome Week
Welcome Week is a giant celebration welcoming students back to campus. Welcome Week takes place the days leading up to the first day of classes in the fall. Popular events include Mountaineer Movie Fest, mini Adventure WV activities, Monday Night Lights, and Fall Fest. With no classes and tons of things to do, this is a time where incoming students can explore the campus, meet new friends, and make memories that will last a lifetime.
