Fondren Library

Located directly outside Fondren Library’s new reading room, the site sits at a bottleneck between the south colleges and the academic quad. Conceived by a group of architecture students as part of a weekend competition, this winning entry brought their design to life as a place for students to rest, read or chat.

Research experiences for undergraduates at Rice are open to students at colleges and universities from around the world. For most programs, research experience is not required - our faculty and graduate students will train you to perform research and mentor you through the experience! Hidden in the various nooks and crannies of Fondren Library are 45 private study rooms. Rice students can reserve rooms for up to four hours at a time and they are a great place for studying or holding private meetings.
