Market History
Around 1907, farmers and fishermen were forced to mainly sell their products through wholesale, which resulted in low profits. Later that year, the newly elected mayor opened Pike Place Market as an area dedicated solely to the farmers, fishermen, and small business owners and remains to that effect today.
Geography
The market is located on a steep hill, and is separated into levels. Each level harbors many amazing experiences from antique stores, quick bites, and restaurants, to fresh produce and fish stands on the lower levels.
