⭐ Department of Psychology

The Department of Psychology is home to world-class scholars whose research consistently attracts national and international recognition. Students have the opportunity to assist in research alongside professors and graduate students in several areas of psychology, including clinical, cognitive, developmental, neuroscience, and social psychology. Neuroscience is the psychology department’s newest program, and FSU is the only public university in the state to offer a Neuroscience program for undergraduate and graduate study. Introduced in the Fall of 2018, this program offers two tracks, Cell and Molecular and Behavioral, which allows students to tailor their degree towards their specific interests and career goals. The Neuroscience program collaborates heavily with a variety of other departments including Biology, Chemistry, and Scientific Computing, which fosters unique research opportunities for Neuroscience students. Our Psychology program as a whole is consistently ranked among the top in the nation for outside research support from the National Science Foundation, with grants totaling over 12 million dollars.

Students at all levels have access to the mentoring and resources they need to achieve distinction in their areas of study. This includes a strong commitment to human diversity, an established program for involving students in research, scholarships and grants for student-initiated research, a Psychology in London program, and an active Psi Chi chapter that hosts events celebrating undergraduate student research and service. Our commitment to research and teaching is aided by our 103,000-square-foot building featuring classrooms, computer labs, and state-of-the art laboratories.
