Our Application Philosophy
We consider a variety of factors including the rigor of a student’s coursework, academic performance, extracurricular activities and achievements, essays, and interest in Cottey. We are careful not to emphasize any single academic metric, such as GPA, test scores, or class rank.
Office of Admission
Navigating the college search and application process can be difficult without help. At Cottey College, our enrollment counselors are here to assist you every step along the way. Visit our website to meet our counselors and find the counselor for your region.
Affordability
Financing your education is a major investment. At Cottey, we understand that fact. Much of the financial aid process and offering of financial aid is regulated by federal law which first supposes that the financial responsibility for post-secondary education lies with the student and family. However, due to our strong financial foundation, endowment, and the continued financial support of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a philanthropic educational organization dedicated solely to furthering education for women, we offer several scholarships and grants to help make a Cottey Education affordable.
Upon admission acceptance, the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) are reviewed and the best financial aid package is offered. Your award offer outlines the types and amounts of financial aid for which you qualify.

Single Sex Admission Policy
Cottey's admission policy is consistent with board policy and is consistent with state and federal law, and specifically informed by Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, which allows for single-sex admission policies in institutions of higher education that have historically served women. This policy affirms Cottey's proud historical tradition as a women's college and its legacy of providing a community specifically designed for women.
As a historically women's college, Cottey considers for admission those applicants who indicate a legally-assigned sex of female on their application. Cottey applies the same admission standards and criteria to all applicants. In reviewing applications, Cottey performs a holistic assessment using GPA, test scores, recommendations, activities, goals, and character. Overall, we seek to admit students whose interests and aspirations match the opportunities provided by Cottey and who will contribute to Cottey's unique educational environment.
With regard to admission, Cottey relies upon the information provided by each student applicant. Applicants who indicate a legally-assigned sex of female are considered for admission. In cases where supporting documentation does not reflect an applicant's legally-assigned female sex, Cottey may request additional information.
