Nursing Major Overview

🧑🏼‍⚕️ Nursing Major Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program fosters confident, collaborative leaders prepared to work in complex healthcare environments.

Rooted in Cabrini’s mission-based Education of the Heart, the Nursing program was developed to cultivate leaders who feel empowered to use their voices to advocate for health equity by informing and influencing education, policy, and practice in nursing and healthcare.

Cabrini’s coursework will include on-campus clinical simulations, as well as off-campus clinical experiences, to provide students experiential learning opportunities that develop sound clinical judgment skills.

The program will prepare graduates to pass the NCLEX-RN examination, which is required of all registered nurses.

Nursing as a First-Year Student

In your first year as a Cabrini Nursing major, you will take discipline-specific courses to gain immediate insight into the theories and concepts essential to nursing practice, professionalism, and their roles as members of interprofessional healthcare teams. In addition to your course work, you will have the opportunity to garner hands-on experiences in Cabrini's Clinical Simulation Center (CSC) to start practicing what it is like to use medical equipment, use healthcare-specific terminology and become accustomed to carrying out simulations.

Nursing Curriculum

Nursing majors take program-specific courses starting in their first year. These courses include Nursing seminars, assessment courses, nursing care for different populations, and more. Nursing majors also take courses in the core curriculum including biology, chemistry, ethics, mathematics, nutrition, and psychology. To view the full Nursing major curriculum, click here.
